The U.S. is the only country in the world where the vast majority of residents own and live in single-family houses. Over 63.5% of Americans live in single-family homes on individual plots of land.
How this achievement, unprecedented in human history, came about is a long, complicated tale. It proceeds from ancient North American antecedents through over three centuries of growth and many architectural styles progressing from indigenous cultures, Colonial Times through the Victorian Era, the Gilded Age, turn of the 20th century unique American styles, inter-war and post-war Modernist Movements, Post-Modernism, and beyond. Join Joseph Madda as he recounts this amazing saga of the American House from the start of the last century up to today. In partnership with Thornapple Questers.
