Theodore Roosevelt officially launched the era of the “Imperial Presidency." For over seven years, he led our country, firmly believing that the 20th century would be America's century.

Roosevelt completed the term of assassinated William McKinley, and then was elected in 1904. He wanted our country to be ready to assert itself. We all know of his advocacy for building the Panama Canal but he did much more than that. There are many reasons his face adorns Mount Rushmore. REGISTER
